After rumors of moving, Flycatchers season carries on

by John Mitchell

After scuttlebutt about the Flycatchers moving out of Blackwell this summer due to lack of support/sponsorships, the ship appears to be righted and the season has carried on.

After a rain out against the Austin Weirdos on June 14th, the team traveled to Roswell, NM for a 5-game series, where they were blanked by the invaders 19-11 on June 15th, 14-8 on June 17th, 25-6 on June 17th, 17-10 on June 18th and 18-8 on June 19th.

The Flycatchers returned to Blackwell for a 2-game series with the Santa Fe Fuego. Previous games against the Fuego had gotten animated, and the first game on June 20th was no different. The game was suspended by the Umpire with the score knotted at 7-7 after aggressive actions by one of the Fuego players. The game on June 21st, was rained out.

The Flycatchers then traveled back west, for a lone game against the Garden City Wind on June 22nd, which they lost 12-7. They returned home for a 5-game series against the Wind. The Flycatchers finally picked up another win on June 23rd, beating the Wind 9-8. On June 24th, the Flycatchers lost by a football score 20-17, and fell 5-4 on June 25th. The Flycatchers will finish out the home stand against the wind on June 26th and 27th.

The Flycatchers continue a long home game streak on June 30th, when they start a 6 games home series against the Austin Weirdos then a 4-game series with the Tucson Saguaros on July 6th, followed a 4 game series against the Alpine Cowboys starting on July 13th. The Flycatchers will hit the road again on July 13th, for a 4-gamer series in Alpine.
