Treasurer Informs Taxpayers of Statements Being Mailed

Christy Kennedy, Kay County Treasurer, would like to inform county residents that the 2018 ad valorem tax statements have been mailed.

An option to pay your taxes on-line at kaycounty.org is available at no additional charge when using eCheck . If you pay by credit or debit card, an additional fee will be charged by the credit card processing company. Instructions for paying in the office, by mail or on-line are included in each mailed envelope.

At least half of the taxes must be paid before January 1st to avoid being delinquent and the second half is due before April 1st. The most important thing to remember when making a half payment is to retain the middle portion of the tax statement. You will need that portion to make your second half payment. Taxpayers who mail their tax payment and wish to receive a receipt should include a self-addressed stamp envelope.

According to Kennedy, property owners whose monthly mortgage payment includes their property taxes will not receive a statement. The statement goes to the company holding their mortgage when the mortgage company requests it. All other taxpayers who do not receive a statement, and feel they should have, should contact the Kay County Treasurer’s office.

“The on-line service is in no way meant to replace the personal service you receive through the treasurer’s office,” Kennedy said. Please feel free to come by or call the office located in the Kay County Courthouse at 201 S. Main in Newkirk. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm. The phone number for the treasurer’s office is 580-362-2523. You can contact Christy Kennedy by email at ckennedy@courthouse.kay.ok.us
