Lillie Spaulding

Lillie Eoline Spaulding of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday morning, April 3, 2019, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 95 years.

Lillie Eoline Spaulding was born on January 6, 1924, in Braman, Oklahoma, to Leonard and Amanda Mae (Winchell) Fisher. She grew up and attended Blackwell Public Schools. Following her education, she married Norvel C. LaBlue on November 9, 1940, and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. In 1958 the family moved to Arkansas City, Kansas, where they owned and operated the Dairy Delight. In 1960 she returned to Blackwell and began working as a seamstress for Wardrobe Cleaners. She married Paul Everett Spaulding in June of 1965 in Blackwell and she continued working for the cleaners until the business closed. She then worked from her home altering and ironing clothes for various families in the community. Her husband preceded her in death in 1985 and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell and was baptized on March 25, 1984. She also held membership in a ladies card club, and the Blackwell Senior Citizen’s Center. She enjoyed bowling in both a ladies league and a mixed doubles league for several years. She loved gardening and flowers, country music and her family, especially her many grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons, Jim LaBlue and wife Darlene of Ponca City and Dan LaBlue and wife Kathy of Blackwell; a brother, Leonard Fisher Jr. of Arkansas City, Kansas; four grandchildren, Tami Amorosa and husband Tommy of Newnan, Georgia, Brent LaBlue and wife Laura of Blackwell, Jimmie LaBlue and wife Stacy of Ponca City, and Cindy Brown and husband Eddie of Blackwell; numerous great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Billy and Tommy LaBlue; four brothers, Eugene, Thomas, Claude and Earl Fisher; two sisters, Clara Shupe and Oleta Brown; and two grandsons, Terry and Brian LaBlue.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 8th in the First Church of the Nazarene in Blackwell with Rev. Bill Kalfas and Rev. Josie Busby officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Jimmie LaBlue Jr., Brent LaBlue, Alex LaBlue, Gooch LaBlue, Eddie Brown and Zac Brown. In honor of Lillie, Terry and Brian LaBlue will serve as honorary casketbearers posthumously.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the First Church of the Nazarene in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
