Betty Caudillo

April 09, 2019

Betty Ann Caudillo of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Friday morning, April 5, 2019, at her home southwest of Blackwell at the age of 74 years.

Betty Anne Paige Caudillo was born to Arthur and Gladys Hammond Paige on September 13, 1944 in Doniphan, Missouri. As a young girl, Betty moved with her family to Blackwell, Oklahoma where she attended the public school system. Betty was the youngest of nine children. Betty adored her father and idolized her brother Donnie.

After graduating from Blackwell High School, Betty married Jesse Caudillo on February 19, 1963 in Blackwell, Oklahoma. They made their home in the Blackwell area. Jesse and Betty began growing their family in 1964 when they welcomed their first son, Eric Quinn into the world. They welcomed their second son, Erin Kurt into the family in 1966. Their family was finally complete with the arrival of their only daughter, Christi Ann in 1970.

Betty worked for a time as a seamstress at Southwest Cupid. She then became a homemaker and focused on caring for her children and her many grandchildren that were to come. Her first grandchild was born in 1985 with several following soon after. Betty was a doting grandmother who found time to spend special moments with her grandchildren, Sean, Katie, Tiffany, Brittany, Kayla, Darian, Jordan, Kristin and Gabriel. Each of her grandchildren often spent the weekends with her, visiting the local donut shop, drinking coffee and listening to Betty as she talked about her life growing up.
Betty possessed many different skill sets. She was a skilled seamstress, often creating works of art for her children and grandchildren to wear, along with home interior designs and special gifts. Betty was an amazing cook, often preparing family meals for holidays, birthdays, and family get-togethers. Betty was often found outside on the “farm”, doing random chores, whether it be climbing on a ladder to touch up paint or trim tree limbs, or working in her numerous flowerbeds and gardens. Many of her grandchildren found solace working alongside her.

Betty was preceeded in death by her father, Arthur; her mother, Gladys; five sisters, Aletha, Alleen, Ethel, Nina, and Mary; three brothers, Melvin, Bobby and Donnie; and one grandson, Sean Caudillo.
