Annual FFA Banquet held

The Blackwell High School chapter of the Future Farmers of America held its annual year-end banquet last week, where students elected cabinet members for the 2019 – 2020 school year and were presented with various awards. The banquet began with an introduction by Kent Tripp, and the opening prayer was led by Skylar Haney. Dinner was catered by Danny's BBQ of Ponca City.
The 2018 – 2019 officer team performed the opening ceremonies. President Allee Johnston, Vice President Trey Peetoom, Secretary Blake Bergman, Treasurer Brittany Harth, Reporter Patrick Deffner, and Sentinel Cooper Orr performed their final duties of the school year.
The Beef Production Proficiency Entrepreneurship Award was given to Tripp, and the Beef Production Proficiency Placement Award was given to Haney. The Diversified Agricultural Production Proficiency Entrepreneurship Award went to Cooper Orr, along with the Forage Production Proficiency Entrepreneurship Award.
Harth was recognized with the Wildlife Production and Management Proficiency Entrepreneurship Award. Discovery degrees went to Andrew Murray, Chandler Peetoom, and James Tripp. Greenhand degrees went to Raelynn Cannon, Austin Grossardt, Kyston Head, Brady Lavers, Jake Smith, and Tucker Wood. Chapter degrees were awarded to Tanner Botts, Wyatt Kiser, Kent Tripp, Orr, and Haney.
State degrees went to Bergman and Johnston. The FFA's top salesman for the fall was Trey Peetoom, and Landon Lorg was the top salesman for the spring. Awards for scholastic achievement went to eight-grade student Andrew Murray, ninth-grade student Austin Grossardt, tenth-grade student Kent Tripp, eleventh-grade student Harth, and twelfth-grade student Bergman. The Star Greenhand Award went to Grossardt, and the Star Chapter Farmer Award went to Johnston.
Wheeler Cobb and Mike Schrammel, who are adults that assist with program, were each recognized with a certificate of appreciation for their continued support of the program. “Thank you for showing up to support the FFA and these kids,” said FFA instructor Emily Rush, who added that she was “extremely proud of everyone she had worked with throughout the year.”
For the 2019-2020 year, Harth was elected as president, Kent Tripp was elected as vice president, Orr was elected as secretary, Haney was elected as treasurer, and Grossardt was elected as reporter.
