Local man dies in flood

The Kay County Sheriff's Office has found the body of a Blackwell man who was killed by high waters last week.

Larry Larimore, a U.S. Navy veteran who went missing between Blackwell and Braman on Tuesday, May 21, has died. He was 77.

Kay County Sheriff Steve Kelley confirmed to the Journal-Tribune that Larimore’s body was found in a field west of U.S. Highway 177 between Canteen Road and Dry Road on Thursday, May 23 at approximately 1:00 p.m. His truck was found in water underneath a bridge the day before, but Larimore was not in it.

Officials report that Larimore left Blackwell around 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. They say he drove into high waters and was swept away.
