BOE hires five teachers

The Blackwell Board of Education voted to hire five teachers for the school district in a specially-scheduled meeting held Friday.

The board convened in executive session to discuss awarding temporary contracts to five teachers. Upon returning to open session, the board voted to hire Kelsey Jackson as a science teacher at Blackwell Middle School; Cameron Kirk as a science teacher at Blackwell High School; Barry Briggs as a math teacher at Blackwell High School; Cissy Hurst as an early childhood education teacher at Blackwell Elementary School; and Roger Horton as a district special education teacher.

The board's next meeting will be held June 17 at 6:00 p.m. The board meets at the district's administration building, located at 201 East Blackwell Avenue.
