United Way Kick-Off Breakfast tomorrow; Tipsy Artist in November

by Charles Gerian

The Blackwell Area United Way will hold two fundraisers this fall, and the group’s leaders hope to see members of the community support the organization’s work.

The first event — the United Way’s annual kick-off breakfast — will be held Friday, August 23 at the intersection of Main Street and Blackwell Avenue. It will last from 7 a.m. — 9 a.m. The Blackwell High School Marching Band and the school’s cheerleading team will perform at the breakfast from 7:30 a.m. — 8 a.m.

For $4, one can purchase a sausage and egg biscuit, along with a cup of juice. Pre-orders can be made by emailing blackwellunitedway@gmail.com or by calling the United Way at 580-363-4195.

The second event — the Tipsy Artist’s painting party — will be held Friday, November 15 from 6 p.m — 9 p.m. That event, entitled “Wine With Us,” will be for those who are 18 years old or older.

Tickets cost $45 each. They may be purchased by calling the United Way, and they may also be purchased on the Tipsy Artist’s website, http://www.tipsyartist.com. The ticket cost includes all art supplies, instruction, snacks, and refreshments for the event.

The Tipsy Artist Paint Palace in historic downtown Guthrie, OK is home to Tiffany Michelle Bora — better known as “The Tipsy Artist.” Bora tours the United States, hosting painting parties in large event centers, hotels, wineries, and casinos, according to her website.

The United Way stated that last year’s painting party was a “success,” and the organization’s leaders said they had “a full house” of attendees.
