Looking Back – Thinking Forward

They did it again! I’m talking about the big, successful Kay county free fair. It was a near week-long fun time for thousands of visitors! We may not be the slickest or even the best city in the southwest, but we can easily boast about having one of the best county fairs!
It was my privilege to once again visit the midway and marvelous event center to watch hundreds of folks having a joyous time, read on!
Right now, let us all stop a minute and thank the dozens of workers to bring us this highly rated county fair. Saturday night was a marvelous climax – one that drew visitors from many northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas communities. It was good to see several former residents to pay homage to their old hometown.
We would be remiss if we did not thank the many exhibitors who showed off their pride and joy. They reflected many excellent talents. One example was the outstanding quilts display. Thank you for taking the time to share your produce and many works of art!!
And, while we’re at it, special thanks to the many vendors and church groups who also did an excellent job of serving!
And not to forget the various entertainment groups, and dear friends, let’s not taken anything for granted and plan now to make future Kay County fairs even bigger and better.
