City of Blackwell welcomes Director of Community Development

The city of Blackwell has welcomed Destiny Rosato as the city’s new Director of Community Development.

The position was created by City Manager Janet Smith. The goal is to have an individual focused on operating the city’s event center, and developing tourism opportunities in the city.

“I am grateful to have this opportunity to serve the city of Blackwell as the community development director,” Rosato said. “I will be overseeing the event center and facilities, [and] assisting in promoting tourism and community events.”

Rosato comes to Blackwell from Ada, Oklahoma 

​Rosato graduated in 2017 with a master’s degree in Human Resource Administration from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. After completing her bachelor’s degree in visual merchandising and marketing from Metropolitan State University of Denver, Colorado in 2014.

Rosato spoke about her personal philosophy. “Who we are has nothing to do with our profession, education or class. In due time, there are only moments meant to define our character, morals and test our faith.”

Rosato served on the board of The Ada Arts Council. She is a member of the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition, the Ada Artist Association, and the Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors.

“I love advocating for the arts and education,” she said. “I have served on numerous art council boards and enjoy creating my own work. I love traveling and experiencing new foods and cultures.”

Rosato said she has worn “many different hats” in her career, but her favorite job was serving the Girl Scouts organization.

“My most cherished experience was working with the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma as the Volunteer Development Manager”. Prior to Blackwell, Rosato worked for Oklahoma Heritage Bank as the Director of Marketing and Communications in Ada, Oklahoma. 

Rosato also served as a human resource intern for the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, which is based out of Baltimore.
