by Jordan Green

Two candidates have officially filed to run for the office of mayor for the city of Blackwell.

Filing for local elected offices closed at the Kay County Courthouse on Dec. 4 at 4 p.m. T.J. Greenfield, Blackwell’s current mayor, and Glenn Cox, a former dispatcher with the Blackwell Police Department, will vie for the position.

A race for the 5th Ward seat on the Blackwell Board of Education also developed. Phil Green, the incumbent, filed to retain his seat. Tami Bickford also filed for the office.

Both elections will be held April 7.

OTHER COUNTY OFFICES

No one filed to run for Office No. 3 on the Peckham Board of Education. The board will appoint someone to the office.

Two candidates filed to run for Office No. 2 on the Kildare Board of Education. Michael Smith, the incumbent, filed to retain his seat. Jason Wimer also filed for the office. The election will take place April 7.

Susan Rhea was the only candidate who filed for Office No. 5 on the Newkirk Board of Education.
