Gerald Cecil Oard

April 17, 2020

Gerald Cecil Oard went to his heavenly home on April 2, 2020 at 6pm. He was a “35 model” as he always told everyone; born August 19, 1935 in Blackwell, OK to Clarence Albert Oard and Gertie Mae (Silver) Oard. He was the youngest of 7 children.

He attended school in Braman, OK and graduated with the Class of 1954. He married Marjorie Carol Rouse on April 2, 1955 in Braman, where they established their loving home. He worked at Blackwell Zinc, then Ed Johnston Grain Company until they sold to Blackwell Co-op in 1981, where he continued working until his retirement in 1997.

He farmed the Silver-Oard Centennial Farm for many years. He could often be seen on a mower, tractor, combine, or at the local coffee shop. He attended the United Methodist Church in Braman, where he loved singing to the Lord.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie C. Oard of Braman, and children Dan & Marva Oard of Piedmont, OK, Peggy Burnett, Tracy & Cindy Oard, and Pamela & Bob Bersche, all of Blackwell, OK. He will be lovingly remembered by his surviving grandchildren Matt & Tori Stafford, Andrea & Josh Hatch, Stephanie & Patrick Nichols, Michelle & Adam Johns, Danielle & Thomas Menke, Jennifer Oard, Abigail Miller, Jared & Rachel Oard and Katy & Geoffrey Blair, along with 15 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, extended family, and his 102-year-old sister Garnet Barton of Eugene, OR.

His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy; they will always remember him singing “I love you a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck, uh, uh, uh” and shouting “YEE-HAW!”

A private family graveside ceremony will be held at the Braman Cemetery at a later date
