April 21, 2020

Rebecca J. Ghormley Osuna passed away at Faith Presbyterian Hospice in Dallas, Texas on Good Friday, April 10, 2020, at age 58 after battling breast cancer. She was surrounded by her family and friends. Our family is indebted to Becky’s friends who lovingly cared for her during her treatment. Our heartfelt thanks go to Vernon Stokes, Diane Peck, and Jan Roberts Marshall. God’s love was reflected through you to Becky and her family. Thank you for loving her so well.

She was born on June 10th, 1961, in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Dr. Wayne and Karen Sole Ghormley. She was an attendant of First Baptist Church where she received her faith and participated in the choir. Becky was musically inclined. She played the flute in band in high school and continued playing the piano into adulthood. After graduating high school in Blackwell, she went on to attend William Jewel College in Liberty, Missouri and was initiated into the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. It was there she made many lifelong friends due to her infectious humor, wit, and kindness.

Becky was drawn to helping others with her compassionate spirit. Growing up, she loved joining her father on house calls, would frequently accompany him to the hospital when he was called back after dinner, and was a summer volunteer at the hospital. Due to this interest, she transferred to Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas and received a degree in nursing. She thrived academically and graduated at the top of her class. Her registered nursing career began providing home health care in the Dallas area. She retired as a prenatal intensive care nurse in Portland, Oregon to become a mother.

She married David Osuna on December 31, 1986. They had two children, Rachel, 27 and Eric, 25. Becky adored being a mother. When they began homeschooling, her affinity for solving problems made the endeavor successful as she dedicated herself to their education and extra-curricular activities. Her caring nature shown through as the family became involved in their community and church. Becky was always willing to lend a helping hand and sought to provide comfort to any in need. Once her children were grown, Becky began a new career as a project manager in roofing construction. Her magnetic and energetic personality brought her success as she built her client base and reputation from scratch over the past 10 years. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Becky is survived by her children, Rachel and Eric, her parents, Wayne and Karen Ghormley, her half sister Mary Villarreal and husband Rudy, her sister Brenda Brown and husband Mark, and her sister Beverly Cochenour and husband David. A family burial will be held as soon as it is safe to travel to the Blackwell Cemetery. A memorial gift honoring her life will be at Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research, https://givetoaproject.komen.org/, and City Rescue Mission, Inc. P.O. Box 960021, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73196–0021.
