"The biggest pizza around": Shepherd's introduces fresh pizzas

It’s been an open secret for months- Shepherd’s convenience store on south Main serves pizza.
Now, the pizza is officially out of the box as Shepherd Oil is doing their week-long “Grand Opening” from August 2-6 to promote their delicious new program.
Shepherd’s on Main will be offering free samples, cotton candy, and other promotions until Friday, according to Director of Food Services Tracie Wyatt.
The grand opening includes free cotton candy today (Wednesday, August 4) and Friday as well as a deal that includes a free 24 oz drink with the purchase of two pizza slices.
Those who shop this week will also be entered for a chance to win a free large pizza.
Priding themselves as the “biggest pizza around”, Shepherd’s offers theirs by the slice, or a whole 16” meal and as always they promise ingredients that taste “better than fresh” with their crust grown and harvested here in Oklahoma amongst their other fresh, local, ingredients. Shepherd’s marinara sauce is also made in-house.
Shepherd’s Pizza is priced at $12.99 for a 16” cheese pizza, $13.99 for a single topping, or $15.99 for a loaded or speciality pizza. By the slice is $2.69 or 2 for $5.
Toppings include pepperoni, Italian sausage, ground beef, bacon, Canadian bacon, pulled pork, grilled chicken, bell peppers, red onions, mushrooms, pineapple, fresh basil, black olives, green olives, and jalapenos.
Sauces for the pizzas include traditional marinara, Alfredo, creamy garlic, basil pesto, and BBQ. Cheese includes smoked, Provolone, Mozzarella, Feta, Cheddar, and Parmesan.
Sides include giant cheese planks, cheesy bread, and a 12” chocolate chip cookie desert pizza.
“We’ve been working on this for a while, testing out our ingredients and how to properly put everything together,” said Wyatt, who had worked initially with local artisan Brodie Vandyck and, now, Jim Killman.
“The program has really come together, and it all came from Shepherd Oil reaching out and talking to other gas station pizza providers and deciding that we could do it ourselves and give people something they could only find at a Shepherd’s location. You can’t just walk into any gas station and get pizza this fresh,” said Wyatt.
Shepherd’s also offers breakfast pizza in the mornings, which come with eggs, sausage, and gravy.
Pizza can be ordered from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. by calling (580) 363-3050.
