DESSIE DEANNA JEWSBURY

Dessie Deanna Jewsbury was born October 20, 1941 in Tulsa, Ok to Leonard Leroy and Ruby Mae Kent Laughlin. On July 29, 2021 she passed from this world suddenly, yet peacefully, surrounded by her daughters and sisters in Ft. Worth, TX. She was a 1959 graduate of Tulsa Central High School.

In December of 1959, she married Tom Ysbrand. After his discharge from the service, they settled in Tulsa, Ok. The family later moved to Blackwell, OK where Tom was stationed with the OHP. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blackwell. Deanna worked in a variety of local businesses while living in Blackwell including Graves Drug, C.R. Anthony’s, Equity Insurance, Southwest Cupid, but most notably she worked with United Supermarket for over 20 years.

After deciding retirement was not for her, she went to work with Wal-Mart part time. She was a wonderful seamstress, making most her daughter’s clothing during their younger years, many quilts, afghans and projects for family and friends, as well as decorating cakes.

In 1978 she married George Jewsbury, who preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters Pam Denton, Theresa Ysbrand. Sisters Charlotte Jarman, and Charlene Smith. Grandchildren Jeff Denton, Mike Denton, Jennifer Roundtree, Melissa Sparks, Tracy Davis and Trey Cole, as well as 15 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Ann Ysbrand, sister Phyllis Walker, and granddaughter Andrea Denton. Per her wishes, there will be no services. The family is most grateful for the outpouring of support shown to them during this difficult time.
