Wilma Jean (Fauchier) Thompson

Wilma Jean (Fauchier) Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, died Wednesday evening, August 11, 2021, at the age of 96 years at the Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Wilma Thompson was born on October 18, 1924 alongside her twin brother, Willard Fauchier, to Enos “Ray” and Ruby Adelle (Goin) Fauchier on a farm near Nardin, Oklahoma.

She attended school and graduated from Deer Creek High School with the class of 1942. She married Marvin Raymond Thompson on January 3, 1943. She was an employee at the Hazel-Atlas Glass Company in Blackwell, Oklahoma for several years until it was destroyed on May 25th, 1955 by a tornado. She also worked at Safeway Grocery Store.

Wilma was very involved with Marvin’s farming, helping him move equipment, hauling wheat, and keeping the farmhands fed. She was very active in the Nardin United Methodist church through the years, teaching the 2nd grade Sunday school classes and adult Sunday school classes. She and Marvin enjoyed traveling to many destinations during the winter months in their fifth wheel. She also enjoyed playing bridge, dominoes, and many other card games with her friends.

Wilma loved entertaining her grandchildren when they could visit. She especially enjoyed cooking delicious meals for them and helping them bake and decorate cookies over their Christmas holidays. She is survived by a son-in-law, David Wayne Barnett; of Comfort, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Sherri L (Trantham) Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren, Janice Barnett of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Shelli Hibberd and husband Lee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Amy Simpson and husband Lindy of Moore, Oklahoma, and Rhett Thompson and wife Debbie of Blanchard, Oklahoma; 8 great-grandchildren, Cassidy Maino of Ruther Glen, Virginia, Promise Newman and husband Tyler of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Madison Petry and husband Kaleb of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Mackenzie Thompson of Norman, Oklahoma, Roarke Simpson of Moore, Oklahoma, Jordan Thompson of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Emma Hibberd of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Scarlet Simpson of Moore, Oklahoma; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bertie (Thompson) Colwell; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 72 years, Marvin; daughter Judy Ranae Barnett; son Jerald Raymond Thompson; sisters Ica Hall, Laverna Johnson, and Neva Fauchier; and twin brother Willard Fauchier. Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 21, 2021, at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma. Casket Bearers will be Austin Beauchamp, Promise Newman, Madison Petry, Mackenzie Thompson, Roarke Simpson, and Jordan Thompson.
