Veterans Day 2021 in Blackwell

by Charles Gerian

Veterans Day is quickly approaching, and residents can expect to see the annual Veterans Day parade on Main Street.

This year, it’ll be led by Mike Richmond as parade marshal. Richmond is a retired Staff Sergeant from the U.S. National Guard.

The lineup for the parade will begin at 10:30 am on Main and Dewey. The parade will begin 11 a.m. on Nov. 11. It will be followed by the Blackwell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2855’s annual bean feed. The event takes place immediately after the parade at the VFW Bingo Hall, 1006 W. Ferguson Ave, and is free to the public.

At the bean feed, residents will have the chance to win a $500 gift card to Bubba’s Outdoor Sports on Doolin Avenue or a hand-made wooden American flag to be displayed indoors.

Those who wish to enter the raffle can purchase tickets at the VFW or from any VFW member.

People can buy one ticket for $5 or five tickets for $20.

The VFW can be contacted via its Facebook group, “VFW Post 2855, Blackwell Oklahoma,” or by calling 580-363-0357.
