Mara Anne Wilson

On Tuesday, October 26, 2021, we unexpectedly lost our beautiful, Mara. Mara Anne Wilson was born July 12, 1990 at William Newton Hospital in Winfield, KS to George & Sheri Wilson. Mara attended elementary school in Blackwell, OK, middle school in Beatrice, NE and high school at Lincoln Southwest in Lincoln, NE. Mara studied business and hospitality management at SCC-Lincoln. Mara loved visiting her grandparent: Robert and Shirley Williams’ home in Ponca City, OK.

There she hanged out with her cousins, Tessa and Sarah and talked with her aunts, Sally and Sue. Mara was inseparable with her twin sister, Nora. The fraternal twins would always be seen wearing matching outfits and doing the same activities and events. Mara looked up to her big brother, Roan. Whom, she emulated his hard work ethic and athletic abilities. Mara’s role model was her mom, Sheri. Whom, she got her mother’s beauty and great taste in fashion. Mara was gifted athlete, who excelled in many sports. At Lincoln Southwest, Mara participated in basketball, golf and track, and was a varsity letter winner starting her freshman year.

Mara was a beautiful person inside and out and cared about everyone. She was a lover of all animals and had five parakeets. Mara may have had a short life, but her positive impact will endure. Mara will always be that bright star for all who knew and loved her. Mara’s survivors: Sheri, Roan and Nora Wilson of Lincoln, NE; Sue Winterrowd of Fairway, KS; Sally, Sarah and Rick Barnthouse and Tessa, Jack and Ladd Jeffries all of Blackwell, OK.

Mara was preceded in death by her father, George Wilson; grandparents, Robert and Shirley Williams; uncle, William Winterrowd. In lieu of flowers, Mara would want a donation made to an animal/pet nonprofit. Private memorial services will be held with Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln.
