Gordon Alan Goodger, formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Monday morning, December 27, 2021, at the age of 74 years.

Gordon Alan Goodger was born January 12, 1947 in Ponca City, OK to Byron and Leatha Goodger. He grew up in Ponca City and attended Ponca City Schools. At the age of 17 he left high school to serve his country in the United States Navy and fought in Vietnam. He served in the US Navy until he was injured and honorably discharged. He then returned to Ponca City where he went to work at Wicke’s Lumber Company.

While working there, he was introduced to Kathy Braly by his brother and Kathy’s friend. They met in September 1973 and were married on April 4, 1974. They went on to make their home in Blackwell, Oklahoma and he started his career with Conoco.

In June 1978 they welcomed their first daughter, Julie and in July of 1982 they welcomed their second daughter, Jaime. Gordon worked at Conoco until his retirement. He enjoyed his retirement years with his wife Kathy until he passed away on December 27, 2021.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy; two daughters, Julie Hawk and husband Travis and Jaime Goodger; grandson, Carter Hawk; granddaughters, Kori and Kaci Hawk.

His three grandkids were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother, Tommy Howard, and sister, Debbie Bible; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gordon was preceded in death by his stepfather Leland Howard, mother Leatha Howard, sister Sandy Carnero, father Byron Goodger, and brother Lester Goodger.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 3rd in the Hayes Funeral Home Chapel in Guthrie with Tom Howard officiating.

Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Dan Bell, Michael Braly, Sean Suggs and Shane Suggs.

A memorial has been established in his honor with Wounded Warrior Project in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
