Steven Ray Herren

Steven Ray Herren entered the gates of Heaven on February 10th, 2022 in his home surrounded by family and friends who loved him unconditionally. He was 66 years old.

Steven Herren was born October 24th, 1955 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Raymond and Esther (Barrows) Herren. He has resided in Blackwell, Oklahoma throughout his life and graduated from Blackwell High School with the class of 1974.

He previously worked many oilfield jobs and was employed by Shebester Bechtel until May of 1985. Steven was forced to resign from an occupation in the oilfield after being injured in a motor vehicle accident leaving him a quadriplegic.

Steven continued to live life to the fullest despite his physical limitations. He thoroughly enjoyed fishing and hunting with friends and family.

He was a participant in a bass club and attended fishing tournaments. He continued to enjoy time spent in the oilfield, working with his operating equipment, selling fireworks, and raising cattle.

He was blessed with two daughters and raised them in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He made many friends throughout the years with his outgoing personality.

Steven will be remembered for his plethora of wisdom and the community will greatly miss seeing him driving around the town of Blackwell.

He had a heart of gold and compassion for others. Steven is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jason and Mindy Bell of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Tara Herren of Edmond, Oklahoma; companion Tammie McWilliams and her two sons Manual McWilliams and Joshua McWilliams; he had the great joy of being papa to Skylor, Bailey, Brooklyn, Breighlyn, Madilynn, Zaiya, Jordan, Michael, Mariah, Jaelyn, and Xavier;  sisters Virginia Stojakovic and husband Marv Stojakovic of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Janice Redding and husband Mickey Redding of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ladonna Hale and husband Terry Hale of Ponca City, Oklahoma, and Sarah Wagon of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother Curtis Herren and wife Tracy Herren of Ponca City, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and life long friend Terry Paige.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends;  brother-in-law Rick Arnold; nephew Rodney Watkins. Celebration of Life services are scheduled for Friday, February 18th, 2022 at Blackwell Tabernacle (1013 N. 9th Street) at 2:00pm officiated by Cliff Johnson.

Casket bearers will be James Arnold, Todd Hale, Nick Grove, Ryan Hale, Heath Hale, Erik Grove, Joel Herren, and Caleb Herren. Honorary casket bearers are Terry Paige, Regina Grove-Juliano, Jynda Murray, Tiffany Nelson, Rodger McWilliams, Manual McWilliams, and Joshua McWilliams. Burial will follow in the Mount Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma.
