Traci Davis inducted into Blackwell Schools Hall of Fame

Traci Brown Davis, a Blackwell High School Class of 1979 graduate, is finally being honored as the Blackwell Public School Foundation’s 2020 Hall of Fame inductee. Her induction was postponed because at the start of the coronavirus pandemic two years ago.

The Hall of Fame dinner is set for 6:30 p.m. March 24 at the Kay Room, 300 W. Doolin Ave. in Blackwell. Davis is the deputy regional chief counsel for the Social Security Administration.

She is responsible for providing leadership and coordination for a wide range of legal advice and services for the Social Security Administration. She lives in Dallas, Texas. She directs attorneys and support staff in 17 federal district courts and two federal circuit courts in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, NewMexico, North Dakota, South Dakota and Texas.

Davis’ mother, Carol (Jones) Brown, was a member of the Class of 1955. Traci Davis said her mother is her inspiration for always doing her best. In high school, Traci Davis was co-valedictorian and a National Honor Society member.She was active in sports and band, and she served as president of her class.

Davis said that, when she first went to college, she worried about whether she would be able to compete with students from much larger schools. “I quickly realized that Blackwell schools had provided me with a strong foundation for continued success,” she said.

She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in accounting. Three years later, she received her Juris Doctor degree.

Davis began as a general attorney in the Social Security Administration. She became a supervisory attorney before moving to her current post.

“My field is competitive,” she said. “You have to be a good communicator, earn trust and go the extra mile. I was willing to take on difficult assignments that others didn’t want.” Davis is married to Larry Davis, an athletic director in a large Dallas high school, and has two sons: Greg, 26, and Geoff, 24.

In addition to the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, the dinner will honor people who have given $1,000 and $10,000 to the public school foundation. The foundation gives grants to Blackwell teachers twice annually. Tickets for the dinner cost $20 each. They are available at all Blackwellbanks.
