Garber FCCLA donates to Blackwell educator's cancer battle

by Charles Gerian

A Blackwell Public Schools paraprofessional got an unexpected surprise when the Garber High School Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America class donated $1,000 to her cancer treatment.

Every year, the Garber FCCLA Class raises $1,000 in a week and donates the money to a community member with cancer. With no one local being in need at the time, the Garber class set its sights on high school paraprofessional Donna Garrett Garrett, who works in Coleen Blevins’ Life Skills Class, was presented with the check this past Monday.

“Our sweet Donna is in a battle with cancer, and the money that the Garber FCCLA Class had raised went to her,” Blevins said. “It was beautiful.”
