Pastor Mike: Let Easter remind you that God is real
Greetings Everyone, There are so many things going on in the world. This time of the year is very busy especially if you have kids, grandkids, or just young friends. Even if you don’t, you are probably involved with jobs or gardening, or a multitude of other things. Sometimes we have so many activities that we forget about other activities that are going on around us. Did you remember that Easter is coming up this Sunday?
You may be thinking that Easter is just for kids and religious people. You might not be into all of the egg hunting and chocolate bunnies. Maybe the season makes you want marshmallow peeps.
Maybe you’re a person (or family) that feels you must go to church on Easter Sunday, whether you want to or not. You feel obligated to make your semiannual appearance at church (the other is Christmas). It’s just hard when there is so much going on in your life. What to do, what to do. First of all, let me re-mind you that Easter is one of the pillars of the Christian faith. It is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, that as- sures us of our eternal life in Heaven if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior.
There are other great people that have lived in the past and are viewed as important figures in other religions. The only issue is that they didn’t die for me and you, and they didn’t come back to life after they died. Some people think this Easter stuff is made up and it never happened. The exciting truth is it did happen, and many people were witness to it. T
here has been a multitude of books written telling about Jesus. There are many “scrolls” and manuscripts that survive today that were written many thousands years ago. Some were written before Jesus walked on earth. So if you think the Holy Bible is our only source of information about Jesus, you are mistaken.
You may say you want to see proof of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I want to see some tangible proof that God is real. I would tell you to look around. Look at the wonders that God created. Look for Je- sus in your life. Ask Jesus to make himself known to you. Accept Him into your life and let Him be your Lord and Savior. It isn’t hard, you just need to be open to the truth. We as humans are stubborn sometimes. We want proof of something and we won’t accept any answer unless we see it.
Let me ask you this, “do you believe there was a man named George Washington?”
Almost all people would answer “Sure”. Well how do you know? Show him to me.
Show me what he has done. Take me to him. The facts are that you can’t show him to me. The facts are that we can see what he did when he was President of the United States, we can see pictures of him, and we can read books written about him, but he is not walking around.
Now what about God? What about Jesus? What about the Holy Spirit? Their work is all around us. The proof of their ex- istence is everywhere. All you have to do is look around and believe. It is called faith. It is opening up your heart, mind and soul, and accepting the proof that is around you. God’s great works are ev- everywhere.
We can even “talk” to Him in prayer. It is as simple as that, or as some might say, “It's easy peasy”. If you have doubts about God, if your uncertain about your relationship with Him, settle your concerns now. Pray for guidance and wisdom.
Serve Him and allow Je- sus to be your Lord and Savior.
Start now. Come to church this Easter Sunday and feel the peace that he offers each of us. God is waiting for all to come. Each of us as Christians and believers want you to come joins us this Easter. We wait to welcome you with open and loving arms. Come and rejoice that “He is Risen, He is Risen In- deed.” Amen. Blessings and peace to all.
