February 14, 2023

Ronald (Ronnie) Leon Hightower, 63, lifelong resident of Blackwell, OK, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

He had a short battle with cancer and died peacefully at his home with family at his side. He was a respected longtime business owner in the community.

Ronnie was his own boss, the only employee, had his own shop, Ron’s Muffler Shop in Blackwell, OK, for 31 years straight, up until his death. Prior to that he was a mechanic for a long time at Ray Hamlin in Blackwell.

For 10 years he drove dirt track racing cars primarily at Enid Speedway, Enid, OK, and 81 Speedway at Wichita, KS. Before that, he drove demolition derby cars in OK and KS. Close to his heart was time spent working on racing cars at his shop, including his own, Jessica’s, and his Blackwell buddies cars.

He enjoyed time with family and friends, loved OU football, and watched only OU. He was the most easy going guy and there was hardly a person he did not trust. He hung out a lot at the shop visiting friends. He was a joker to all, big and small.

He enjoyed fishing in years past and other hobbies were cooking, doing yard work, and watching the old western shows on TV. He loved horses and spending time around them.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jake and Helen Hightower, sister Theresa Smith, and daughter Kristina Hightower Davis. He is survived by his loving wife Jessica of 42 years, brother Jeff Hightower and wife Karen, sister Debbie Scritchfield and husband Michael, his daughter Tiffany Hightower Tanner and husband Matt, grandchildren Logan Beeler and Emery Beeler, his son Ryan Hightower and wife Tiffany Olmstead, and Alexis Lanning and Ocean Marie Click-children of deceased daughter Kristina Hightower Davis, and numerous relatives.

He will fondly be remembered by all. An account has been set up at Banc First in Blackwell.

The family requests in lieu of flowers or other assistance, donations can be made on behalf of two grandchildren being raised by Jessica Hightower.

Services will be held tomorrow, Thursday, February 16, 2:00 P.M., at Mount Olive Cemetery in Nardin, OK, under their pavilion.
