Kenneth Rhea Hiten

Kenneth Rhea Hiten, son of A.K. and Agatha (Seawright) Hiten, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2023 at his home in Wichita, KS. He was 65.

Kenny received his early education in Deer Creek and Nardin, OK and then attended high school in Tonkawa, graduating in 1975. Following high school he continued his education at Northern Oklahoma College. Deciding that school was not his thing, Kenny joined the US military. He received his basic training at Fort Sill, OK and then enlisted in the US Air Force. In 1980 he married Jill Steffen and from this union two children were born, Josh and Kyndal Hiten. He served our country during Desert Storm and spent time in Iceland, England, California, Texas and Wichita, KS. After serving 17 1/2 years Kenny retired from the United States Air Force as a Master sergeant and went on to attend the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center at the University of Kansas in Hutchison, KS. Then to find his calling in Aerospace.

Family members include his devoted wife Anne, of the home; his mother, Agatha Hiten; two children, Josh Hiten and his wife Maddy and Kyndal Rhea Medina and her husband Josh; two step-daughters, Lauren Adams and husband Alonzo and Michelle Dixon and husband T.J.; one brother, Kevin Hiten; grandchildren, KyAnna, Karter, Kambree, Daylon, Dante, Keavin, Nellie, Blaire, Brooks, Kingsly and one special niece, Mattie Hixson.

Kenny was preceded in death by his father, A.K. Hiten; one brother who died at 16 years of age, Alan Keith Hiten; grandparents,. Robert & Mattie Maurine Seawright and Bessie & Gilford Hiten; paternal great-grandmother, Lula Ella Brown, who was enrolled as an original member of the Chickasaw Nation.

An informal memorial gathering will be held at Mount Olive Cemetery in Nardin on Saturday., March 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in honor of Kenny and his father, A.K. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, friends and family write down their favorite story or memory of Kenny and or A.K. and submit by email to kyndalrhea@yahoo.com
