Veterans Day Parade to be lead by Randy Wickham

The Blackwell Veterans Day Parade is scheduled to be held Saturday, November 11 on Main Street at 11 a.m.

Following the parade, the Blackwell Veterans of Foreign Wars will be hosting their annual bean-feed at their post on Ferguson.

This year’s Parade Marshall is Randy K. Wickham, U.S. Army Master Sergeant.

Wickham joined the Army in July 1974 and spent 26 years in the service.

He served 4 years at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He would then return to Blackwell and join the National Guard where he served 22 years and was deployed to Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

In the National Guard, he was an Artillery Supply Sergeant, Water Purification, and Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Management (NBC) Sergeant

Wickham was made a Military Police during Desert Storm and did convoy escorts and security for Allied Command Headquarters. He would then retire in 2000.

Wickham has also been Commander of the VFW , DAV and Vice Commander of the American Legion all in Blackwell.
