The Kay County Youth Pageant Committee will be hosting a “Fifties Family Night” fundraiser for their pageant events, and they invite the entire community to put on their leather jackets and poodle skirts for a family-friendly event at the Fairgrounds.

The Fifties Family Night Sock Hop will be held Saturday, February 10 at the Livestock Pavilion at the Blackwell Fairgrounds from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. with tickets on sale now by contacting any committee member.

Tickets are $5 each and $15 for a family of 4. There is a max price of $25 for a family of 5 or more.

Those interested can get in contact with the group via their Facebook Page, “Kay County Youth Pageants Committee” or e-mail at kaycounty.yp@gmail.com

“We invite the entire community to join us at our Sock Hop on February 10 for lots of food and fun for the entire family,” said Committee Director Nikki Barnes.

“We’ll have lots of fun games such as limbo and hula hoops! How low can you go? There will be lots of toe-tapping 50’s music and we invite you to try out your moves in our dance contest and show us what you’ve got in our ‘Twist Off’ contest! Come dressed in your poodle skirts, letterman jackets, cat eyeglasses, and leather jackets to compete in our costume contest as well!”

She continued:

“Y’all might want to start practicing now for our bubble-blowing contest! Can you blow the biggest bubble? There will be diner food at the event for an additional cost. Our diner will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, sodas, and milkshakes!”

Barnes also stated she was excited to have an anonymous donor who has purchased 10 family tickets for families in the community who might not otherwise be able to attend.

Families can contact Nikki Barnes or any committee member for information on receiving a donated ticket at 580-761-6874.
