Arthur's Bar & Grill plans fun summer ahead with patio, music, and more.
Arthur’s in Blackwell is entering their first summer season on the way to the bar and grill’s 1-year anniversary, and the home-grown business is saying thank you to the community and making plans to keep the family-friendly restaurant and popular nightlife spot going for years to come.
“We of course want to thank the community for their support,” said Sabrina Ward, co-owner of Arthur’s Bar & Grill with her husband Brandon.
“Blackwell has been so good to us, showing support through our fires and Brandon’s medical issues,” she said.
“We’d like to really hear feedback on what the people want,” Sabrina continued, “we continue to offer live music 2-3 times a month as well as hosting karaoke and Singo.”
“We are looking to really gauge what the public wants from us, in terms of entertainment, specials, and events.”
In the past, Arthur’s had dabbled in an arts-and-crafts program called Bubbles and Brushes, and while the first class was a hit, Sabrina stated that interest in that has waned. Karaoke, which drew big numbers regularly, has also tapered off.
Arthur’s also hosts Pickin and Grinnin on the first Thursday of every month as a chance for local musicians to come in and sing or play.
“Things have been slowing down,” Sabrina explained, “and we are wondering if it’s just a sign of the summer season what with everyone being busy out at the lake or with sports.”
“We haven’t had many sign-ups for new or suggested classes, and we want to know if that’s something the public wants or if there’s maybe another program that we can try to offer. We are constantly striving to gauge community input and shape our programming and options to match,” said Sabrina.
“We need the community to tell us what they want so that we can continue to be around for them for years to come.”
But it’s not doom and gloom for Arthur’s. In fact, things are about to be changing dramatically for the summer season.
Arthur’s is planning to open their new patio to guests very soon with a Luau party to celebrate the opening. The new patio, and a shift to drive bar traffic to the outdoor area, will mean cornhole tournaments, a walk-up window for food and drinks, and misters and fans to keep guests cool.
“We are planning to install horseshoe pits, and having some outdoor concerts,” Sabrina said.
Currently, Arthur’s is set to be included as a stop on the Eric OBrien Benefit Poker Run on June 22 and will be the location for a Noodling Contest hosted by the Quarterback Club which starts at 6 am on June 28.
Entry for the noodling contest is $100 for up-to 4-person teams with 3 fish stringers: flatheads only. Entries are due by midnight on June 27 with the competition beginning at 6 am June 28 with weigh-in taking place June 29 at 6 pm at Arthur’s which will also have live music.
Proceeds from the event will go directly into the Blackwell Maroons Quarterback Club. The Noodling Contest is sponsored by Arthur’s, Flippin Ink, Trophy Tine Outfitters, HRI Roofing & Post Frame, and Air Evac LifeTeam.
Along with the big summer changes, Arthur’s is lowering liquor and beer prices as well. Arthur’s pricing for drinks and food includes tax factored in as well, so there are no surprises for customers. The bar & grill also offers discounts for veterans and first responders.
Arthur’s offers Happy Hour daily from 3 pm - 6 pm.
The bar & grill accepts call-in orders. Their grill hours are 11 a.m. - 8 pm Wednesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Their menu offers chicken sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, fried pickles, fried mozzarella, pizza, nachos, dips, and desserts.
