2024 Kay County Fair schedule released
The date and event schedule for the 2024 Kay County Free Fair has been released by the Free Fair Board.
The 2024 Kay County Free Fair will take place at the Blackwell Fairgrounds on September 10-15th 2024.
The Fair Board this year consists of President Tim Gilbert, Vice President Stacy Simunek, Secretary Zane Blubaugh, Treasurer Karen Overman, Maribeth Ratliff, Jimmy Smith, Derek Ott, Tim Stidham, and Charlie Brandon.
Monday, September 9 will be the entry day for school exhibits (4 pm-8 pm), domestic sciences & arts exhibits (6 pm - 8 pm), Ag / 4-H exhibits (2 pm - 6 pm), and plants/flowers exhibits (2 pm - 6 pm) at the Event Center.
Tuesday, September 10 will still see entries for Domestic Science & Art from 8 am - 6 pm and School Exhibits from 8 am until noon. Entries will be accepted for plants/flowers from 8 am until 6 pm and Agriculture and FFA / 4-H from 8 am to 6 pm.
Judging OHCE and exhibits will begin at 9: 30 am.
Poultry and rabbit check-in will be held at the Livestock Pavillion from 4 pm - 7 pm and entries for the horse show will be taken from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Horse Arena.
Wednesday, September 11 will see judging for crops, education, 4-H and FFA, Science & Arts, and horticultural exhibits begin at 9 am.
Chickens and rabbits will be judged in the Livestock Pavillion that day. Cattle weigh-in will be from 4 pm - 6 pm in the Whitman Arena and the Cattle Show will be held at 6:30 pm in the Whitman Arena.
Thursday, September 12 will be when the Friends of 1893 Land Run luncheon is held in the Kay Room on Doolin at 12 pm noon. The program will begin after the lunch at 1 pm in the Kay Room.
The Tractor Driving Contest will be held at 6 pm east of the Horse Arena. Sheep and goat weigh-in will be held from 10 am to 12 noon in the Livestock Pavillion and the Sheep Show will be held at 5:30 pm in the Pavillion followed 10 minutes after ending by the Goat Show.
Friday, September 13 will see the 4-H and FFA Judging begin at 9 am in the Livestock Pavillion and then the Hog Check-In at 5 pm in the Pavillion followed by the Hog Show at 6:30 pm in the Whitman Arena.
Saturday, September 14 the Kay County Horse Show for open & 4-H /FFA will begin at 9 am in the Horse Arena. Rabbits will be released from 7 pm - 8 pm. Poultry will be released from 8 pm - 9 pm.
