New teen group at Blackwell Youth Center covers healthy relationships and boundaries
This Thursday, August 22 at 4:30 p.m., was the first weekly meeting of the Blackwell Youth Center’s Teen Group, hosted by the Survivor Resource Network, which will be held in the Youth Center on Ikerd.
The group aims to answer questions about healthy relationships, setting boundaries, and how to help people who might be in toxic relationships.
The group is open to kids aged 15 and up.
"As a part of Survivor Resource Network's community education and outreach efforts, we will be facilitating a youth group at the Blackwell Youth Center. The youth group will focus on teaching about healthy relationships, boundaries, consent, and safe dating,” said Kayla Green with the organization.
1 in 3 girls in the US are victims of dating violence, and only 33% of them ever reach out for help.
“We want to provide a space where youth can learn about the resources available to them. As we empower the next generation, it's crucial to provide them with the tools and knowledge they need to build healthy and respectful relationships,” Green continued.
“Education and awareness are the first steps toward change, and we're committed to being a resource for our youth as they navigate these important aspects of their lives.”
Groups will be every Thursday at 4:30pm at the Blackwell Youth Center and start on August 22nd. Groups are open to any youth in Kay County age 15+.
