Stamp Out Hunger in Kay County on Saturday, May 10
Letter Carriers to Collect Food Donations Along their Routes to Benefit Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma
Letter carriers across Oklahoma will collect food donations along their routes Saturday, May 10 as part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, presented by the American Fidelity Foundation and OG&E. Donations will help stock the shelves of Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma partners across central and western Oklahoma. Oklahoma residents will receive a plastic bag in their mailbox the week of May 5. Residents are encouraged to fill the donation bag, or any plastic bag, with nonperishable food and leave the bag by their mailbox before their letter carrier arrives on Saturday, May 10. "There’s something powerful about coming together right at your own mailbox to fight hunger,” said Stacy Dykstra, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. “Your donations during Stamp Out Hunger will stay in your community to help provide meals to your neighbors living with hunger. We are so grateful to our friends at the NALC and the United States Post Office for making this drive possible." In Kay County, donations will benefit Regional Food Bank partners like: Associated Charities, Fish and Loaves Food Pantry, Friendship Feast, House of Prayer Blackwell, New Emergency Resource Agency Food & Resource Center, The Mission Ponca City, Opportunity Center and Survivor Resource Network. All nonperishable items are welcomed. Recommended items include peanut butter, canned tuna and chicken, canned fruits, pasta and canned sauce, soup and stew. Healthy food options are also needed, such as whole grain and low-sodium. To make a financial donation, text “StampOK” to 53-555. Every $1 donated helps to provide three meals to Oklahomans living with hunger. The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is additionally sponsored by CSAA-AAA Insurance, Bank of Oklahoma, Diamondback Energy, Express Employment International, WEOKIE Foundation, Tyler Media, LocaliQ and Lamar Outdoor.
