Boogie Woogie Returns to Poncan Theatre: Silvan Zingg Set to Perform July 24

The Historic Poncan Theatre in Ponca City will once again come alive with the sounds of boogie woogie, blues, and jazz as internationally acclaimed pianist Silvan Zingg returns for a one-night-only performance on Wednesday, July 24, at 7 p.m.

A native of Switzerland, Zingg is known worldwide for his electrifying piano performances and charismatic stage presence. With more than 50 countries under his belt, he has shared the stage with music legends including B.B. King, Chuck Berry, Carlos Santana, and George Benson.

Zingg’s performance promises a high-energy musical journey through time. Audiences will hear classics from early piano greats such as Scott Joplin—famous for “Maple Leaf Rag” and “The Entertainer”—and Clarence “Pinetop” Smith, who recorded the first boogie woogie song. The evening will then move into the big band and jazz era with works from composers like George Gershwin, Count Basie, and Oscar Peterson.

Adding to the evening’s entertainment, concertgoers can enjoy an art show during intermission in the theater’s front lobby. Local artist Susan Jones will debut new pieces from her Silent Film Stars Series and other works inspired by bygone eras. All pieces will be available for purchase, and a live auction of select artwork will take place during the second half of the show.
