Veteran Banner fundraiser aims to support local VFW

August 05, 2025

The Blackwell Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2855 is seeking community support as part of an ongoing fundraiser aimed at honoring veterans while also raising funds to support the Post’s continued service to local veterans and their families.

Blackwell Tourism, in partnership with the VFW is offering custom veteran banners for purchase. These banners, which will be displayed annually throughout downtown Blackwell, serve as a tribute to the men and women who have bravely served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Each banner includes the veteran’s photo, name, branch of service, military insignia, and service dates—creating a powerful public display of appreciation.

The cost of each banner is $100, with a portion of every purchase directly benefiting Blackwell’s VFW Post. Organizers say the funds are critical in helping the Post continue its mission of supporting area veterans, many of whom rely on the VFW for camaraderie, assistance, and advocacy.

“Help us give our veterans the recognition they deserve,” said Sherry Buellesfeld with Blackwell Tourism, emphasizing both the meaningful tribute and the urgent need for financial assistance at the local VFW.

Those interested in ordering a banner or learning more about the project are encouraged to call 580-363-4195 or stop by the Blackwell Chamber of Commerce office at 120 South Main Street.

As the community prepares for another year of honoring its veterans, organizers hope the public will respond generously to ensure the VFW can continue its vital work for those who have served.
