Driver Arrested After DUI Crash Involving Multiple Vehicles in Downtown Blackwell

January 14, 2026

A Blackwell woman was cited for allegedly driving under the influence following a multi-vehicle crash last week in downtown Blackwell that resulted in damage to two parked vehicles and a local business, according to the Blackwell Police Department.
The collision occurred at approximately 4:05 p.m. on Jan. 26, 2026, in the 100 block of South Main Street (U.S. Highway 177).
Police report that Letecia Gail Burkett, 60, of Blackwell, was driving a 2025 white Jeep Compass northbound when her vehicle crossed the center line and left the roadway. Officers arriving on scene observed Burkett slumped over the steering wheel and unconscious inside the vehicle.
According to the report, Burkett allegedly admitted to consuming alcohol and stated her last drink was at approximately 1:50 p.m. A breath test later recorded a blood alcohol content of .110, more than the legal limit. Burkett was transported by Blackwell EMS to Stillwater Medical Center for medical evaluation.
After leaving the roadway, Burkett’s vehicle struck two unoccupied, parked vehicles in the downtown area. The first vehicle was registered to Laura McRae and was parked facing southbound in the 100 block of South Main Street. The impact caused McRae’s vehicle to be pushed onto the sidewalk.
Burkett’s Jeep spun after the impact and struck a second parked vehicle, a 2023 gray Nissan Rogue, registered to Kelly Grant Vest, 65, of Blackwell. That vehicle was also unoccupied at the time of the crash.
Following the collisions with both vehicles, McRae's vehicle traveled approximately 61 feet across the sidewalk before striking the front of a privately owned business located at 117 S. Main Street.
All three vehicles sustained damage. The business also suffered damage to its front exterior. Both parked vehicles and Burkett’s Jeep were towed from the scene by Blackwell Towing.

A juvenile passenger was flown out due to injuries.
Burkett was allegedly cited for Driving Under the Influence under Title 47 O.S. §11-902(B)(1) but released to Stillwater Medical-Blackwell due to her injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the Blackwell Police Department.
