Flycatchers Set for 54-Game Slate as Pecos League Releases 2026 Schedule
January 14, 2026
The Blackwell Flycatchers are gearing up for another summer of professional baseball as the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs officially released its 2026 schedule. The upcoming season will mark the Flycatchers’ fourth year of play and the 16th overall season for the Pecos League.
All teams across the league will play a 54-game regular season in 2026, contributing to a total of 432 regular season games leaguewide before three rounds of postseason playoffs determine the league champion. Opening day for Mountain Division teams, including Blackwell, is set for May 27.
Blackwell will again compete in the Mountain Division, which features a mix of established franchises and newer clubs. Joining the Flycatchers are the Alpine Cowboys, Garden City Wind, Iola Hormigas, North Platte 80s, Pecos Bills, Santa Fe Fuego, and Trinidad Triggers. Several of those clubs bring long histories to the league, including Alpine, Santa Fe and Trinidad, each entering their 15th season of Pecos League play.
The Flycatchers’ 2026 home schedule includes 27 games at Morgan Field, with the remaining 27 contests played on the road or at neutral sites. One of the highlights of the season will come on July 4, as Blackwell has been selected as one of eight teams across the league to host a special Independence Day game. Fourth of July games are also scheduled in Alpine, Garden City, Grand Junction, Trinidad, Bakersfield, Martinez and San Rafael.
The Pecos League continues to span much of the western and central United States, with teams divided among three time zones. Blackwell is part of the Central Time Zone grouping, which also includes Alpine, Garden City, Iola, North Platte and Pecos. The Pacific Time Zone will feature six teams, while four clubs compete in the Mountain Time Zone.
Interleague play will once again bring a variety of opponents to Blackwell, including matchups against familiar Central Zone rivals such as Garden City, Iola and North Platte, as well as series against Santa Fe and Trinidad. The Flycatchers’ summer schedule stretches through late July, with the regular season concluding just ahead of the league’s postseason format.
The Pecos League All-Star Games will be hosted in Garden City and Martinez during the 2026 season, showcasing top talent from both divisions.
As anticipation builds, Blackwell fans can look forward to another summer of affordable, family-friendly baseball and community events, highlighted by holiday festivities, competitive league play and the continued growth of the Flycatchers franchise in its fourth season.
A healthy Kay County requires great community news.
