OU Health Mobile Lung Cancer Screening Coach Coming to Blackwell
January 14, 2026
OU Health will bring its Mobile Lung Cancer Screening Coach to Blackwell later this month, offering residents convenient access to potentially life-saving lung cancer screenings.
The mobile unit will be stationed at the Blackwell Event Center, 800 S. Main St., on Wednesday, March 25, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The program is designed to make early detection services more accessible by bringing healthcare directly to communities.
The screening uses a low-dose CT scan, a fast and painless imaging test that creates detailed pictures of the lungs and can detect signs of lung cancer at an early stage, when treatment options are often more effective.
OU Health recommends annual low-dose CT lung screenings for individuals who are between 50 and 80 years old, currently smoke or have quit smoking within the past 15 years, and have a history of heavy smoking, defined as at least a 20 pack-year history.
Appointments are required. Residents interested in scheduling a screening can call (405) 271-LUNG or speak with their healthcare provider for a referral.
The Mobile Lung Cancer Screening Coach is part of OU Health and the Stephenson Cancer Center’s ongoing efforts to improve early detection and reduce lung cancer-related deaths across Oklahoma by expanding access to preventative care.
A healthy Kay County requires great community news.
