Obituary: Marsha Jo (Robinson) Johns

March 25, 2026

Marsha Jo (Robinson) Johns, age 74, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. Marsha was born on
February 9, 1952, in Olympia, Washington to Warren and Ruth (Winters) Robinson. Marsha moved to
Anchorage, Alaska when she was less than a year old where she lived until 1956 when she moved to
Seattle, Washington. In 1958 the family moved to San Diego, California. When Marsha was 16 years old,
she was convinced by her sister to go on a blind date where she met an Oklahoma farm boy who was in the
United States Navy, stationed in San Diego at the time. It only took five short months for her to marry the
love of her life, James Johns (Frank), on April 11, 1969, in San Diego. Marsha obtained her cosmetology
license while Frank was overseas. They welcomed their first daughter, Sharon, in 1970. They resided North
of Los Angeles until they moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma in 1972. They welcomed their second daughter,
Cindy, in 1975.
In 1977, Frank and Marsha moved their family to a farm near Peckham. They welcomed their third
daughter, Suzanne, in 1979.
Marsha owned a successful hairdressing business in Blackwell for over 40 years while also helping Frank
on the farm. She loved raising horses, attending rodeos and horse shows, and cheering on her girls as they
participated in sports. Marsha was always actively involved in her daughters’ schools and activities, often
volunteering as a room mom, running the PTO, and working concession stands at countless games. She was
also a dedicated 4-H mom for many years, helping her girls and their clubs with many projects. In 2004,
Marsha and Frank moved from the farm into Blackwell, where she continued working as a hairdresser
until retiring in 2015.
Marsha enjoyed painting, ceramics, camping and fishing with Frank, and watching her grandchildren
participate in their many activities. She was especially devoted to her church and her church family.
Marsha was a member of The Free Will Baptist Church in Blackwell and a member of the Free Will Baptist
Ladies Mission Group, where she supported various missionaries with fundraisers and prayers. She would
decorate the bulletin boards and enjoyed making beautiful flower arrangements to set out at the church.
She was faithful and willing to help anyway she could. Together, Marsha and Frank sat in the same pew
for every service. She loved the Lord, her church, and her family.
Marsha is survived by her three daughters, Sharon Johns, Cindy Biddle and husband Brian, and Suzanne
Howard and husband Adam: five grandchildren, Courtney Pruett and husband Myles, Tanner Cline and
wife Hailey, Tate Cline and fiancé Kallie, Octavian Howard, and Xavier Howard. She had the privilege of
having three bonus grandchildren, Callie Biddle, Brianne Gordon and husband Christian, and Trevin
Biddle and fiancé Aleigha; four great-grandchildren, Carsyn, Addison, Rhett, and Avery, with two more on
the way. She is also survived by three sisters, Carol Leatherbury, Christine McAnally and husband Rick,
and Sandy Lapuyade. She had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Warren (Robbie) Robinson, her sister Sonya, her
brother-in-law Pete Lapuyade, and her beloved husband Frank of 56 years.
A memorial service for Marsha is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:30 am at the First Free
Will Baptist Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Kevin Bookout (Ret.) officiating.
