‘Puttin’ for Potties’ golf tournament to raise funds for Blackwell course improvements

Golfers will have an opportunity to hit the links for a good cause this fall as the Blackwell Municipal Golf Course hosts its “Puttin’ for Potties” Golf Tournament to raise money for restroom renovations.

The fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 18, with a 2 p.m. tee time. All proceeds from the tournament will go toward updating the bathrooms at the municipal golf course.

The tournament will feature a two-person scramble format with a superintendent’s revenge setup and backwards par 3 holes. Entry is $200 per team.

Participants will have opportunities to win prizes, and each golfer will receive two free drink tickets. Dinner will follow the tournament.

Golfers will also have an added incentive to aim for the flag, with anyone making a hole-in-one receiving a free golf course membership for next year.

Organizers are also seeking sponsors to help support the improvement project. Hole sponsorships are available for $100, while clubhouse sponsorships are $250.

The tournament is part of an effort to make improvements to the Blackwell Municipal Golf Course one project — or, as organizers put it, “one putt” — at a time.

All proceeds from the Oct. 18 event will be dedicated to the restroom renovation project.
